INSPIRE Lab Hosts Open House

We are thrilled to share the success of the INSPIRE lab’s recent open house event, which saw an excellent turnout of over 30 people, including friends, family, and members of the SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) community. Held at Spaulding’s INSPIRE Lab in Cambridge, the event was a celebration of research, technology, and community engagement.

Attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with pizza, lab tours, and in-depth discussions about ongoing research projects and technological innovations. The conversations were engaging, with participants asking thoughtful questions and providing insightful suggestions that enriched the day.

One of the highlights was the diverse range of topics discussed, reflecting the diverse interests and experiences of the guests. One attendee highlighted the need for more research into manual wheelchair propulsion, sparking ideas about utilizing the lab’s motion capture system for related studies. Another guest expressed interest in leveraging the lab’s 3D printer for printing assistive technology, showcasing the potential for innovation in the lab.

Due to the overwhelming positive response, the INSPIRE Lab plans to host a follow-up event this summer. For more information about the INSPIRE Lab check out their website https://spauldingrehab.org/research/programs-labs/inspire
