TRC Team Presents at AI Cures

The AI Cures conference, hosted by MIT/MGB, took place Monday, April 1st.  This event explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) with healthcare.  Clinicians, scientists, and innovators had the opportunity to discuss and share their current research and the potential AI has for improving medical outcomes.  This event is held in hopes of fostering new MGB-MIT collaborations, and to inform people of the cutting-edge research currently ongoing.

The Travis Roy Center’s Brittany Smith and Julia Gangemi presented their poster: ‘A semi-autonomous robot to enhance functional independence for persons with cervical spinal cord injury: a case for AI integration.’  Our research delves into how robotic systems and AI can empower individuals who have had catastrophic injuries resulting in paralysis to increase their functional independence, and therefore, quality of life.  This research sparks inspiration, and after engaging with many fellow attendees and presenters, it is evident that the convergence of AI and healthcare could hold endless opportunities for revolutionizing patient care and treatment.  The AI Cures conference showcases the remarkable strides being made in technology and medicine, and we are grateful to have been a part of this event!
